A 52-year-old man is facing charges following a shoplifting investigation in Cobourg’s downtown core.
According to Cobourg Police, officers were called to a business near the intersection of King Street and Spring Street on Friday, July 4, 2025, after staff reported that a man entered the store, selected merchandise, and left without making any attempt to pay.
After reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with witnesses, police were able to identify a suspect and locate him a short distance away from the scene.
The individual, whose name was not released, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
He was later released on an undertaking with a future court date scheduled.
