Canada Day celebrations are back in full swing across Cobourg and Port Hope, offering a full day of activities, music, food and fireworks for the entire family.
In Cobourg, the Canada Day parade kicks off at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, moving along King Street from William to Victoria Park. Ceremonies begin at 12:30 p.m., with music and multicultural entertainment running all day. The annual Waterfront Festival continues through July 1, and the grand fireworks show lights up the harbour at 10 p.m. sharp. Free shuttles will run from the Cobourg Community Centre and Northumberland Mall until 11 p.m. to ease traffic congestion.
In Port Hope, the festivities start with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. in Memorial Park. A Show N’ Shine car show, yoga in the park, and a full entertainment lineup keep the downtown buzzing until nightfall. The Canada Day parade begins at 11 a.m., following a route adjusted due to Walton Street construction. The day wraps up with fireworks at 10:15 p.m. at East Beach, with DJ Chris Martell spinning music from 9:30 p.m.
Both communities remind residents of local road closures and parking restrictions, especially along parade routes and waterfront areas. Visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle, or use shuttle services when possible.
