Visitors heading to the Northumberland Scottish Festival and Highland Games this weekend are being advised of temporary parking restrictions near the event site at the Town Park Recreation Centre.
To help manage traffic and ensure emergency access, parking will be restricted from 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21.
Restricted areas include:
The west side of Elgin Street (between College and Francis)
The west side of Deblaquire Street South (between Francis and McCaul)
Both sides of Francis Street (from Hope Street to the dead end)
Existing no-parking zones remain in effect and will be enforced.
Attendees are encouraged to consider parking at the event grounds-spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, including overflow in the lower fields with access from Francis Street.
For those looking to avoid the hassle altogether, Port Hope’s municipal transit service is free during the event. Festivalgoers can check routes and schedules at porthope.ca/transit.
The festival is expected to draw large crowds, including pipe bands, performers, and spectators, so visitors are asked to drive carefully and be mindful of pedestrians in the area.
