High school and post-secondary students looking to launch their own business this summer can now apply for the Business & Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland’s (BECN) Summer Company Program.
The initiative provides students aged 15 to 29 with free professional business coaching, skill-building resources, networking opportunities, and a grant of up to $3,000 to support their summer ventures.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in developing a business from concept to operation while enhancing their resumes and scholarship applications. Since 2001, the program has helped more than 150 students, distributing nearly $474,000 in microgrants.
Mathew, owner of Astraview – Aerial Videography, credits the program for helping him turn his passion into a profitable business. “Their guidance helped me develop a website, create a portfolio, and secure clients,” he said.
Applications are due by May 23, 2025.
