All school buses for Northumberland, Peterborough and Clarington have been cancelled due the blast of winter weather.
Environment Canada has issued a Snow Squall Warning with the possibility of 25 centimetres hitting Western Northumberland County.
Officials say snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Motorists are asked to use caution when out and about.
