Lower Trent Conservation (LTC) has released its draft conservation lands and areas strategy and is calling on the public to weigh in to help shape the future management of its conservation lands.
The strategy, which is open for feedback until Sept. 6, outlines LTC’s objectives for the use and protection of its 3,666 acres of land, identifying programs and services provided, and categorizing land use based on activities and conservation goals.
“Public feedback is critical in guiding our conservation lands and areas strategy,” said Rhonda Bateman, CAO at Lower Trent Conservation. “The perspectives of people who use and enjoy our properties are essential in improving our conservation areas, recognizing potential challenges and opportunities, and planning for upcoming projects. We want to ensure that the public has input.”
LTC’s conservation lands, which are held in trust for public use and conservation purposes, offer outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking, cross-country skiing, biking, and picnicking. These lands are vital for protecting hazard areas, environmentally significant regions, and important water resources, while also serving as sites for outdoor education, conservation projects, and ecosystem rehabilitation.
To participate in the survey, visit www.LTC.on.ca and fill out the survey between July 13 and Sept. 6.
