Port Hope will be awash in Pink for Run Salmon Run, September 7 – 10
This will be the second year for Run Salmon Run, which celebrates the yearly migration of salmon up the Ganaraska River to their spawning grounds.
Organizer Sean Carthew told us that it’s a great chance to educate, inform and maybe change some attitudes of those both new to angling and seasoned veterans.
As they did last year, organizers are asking those planning to attend any of the 4 days of activities to bring a non-perishable donation for the food bank.
According to Carthew, the signature “Fete en Rose” is sold out, but you can still enjoy watching the fun as 175 participants make their way up river to secret locations for dinner and an after party.
New this year will be a children’s “Fish Market” where kids will be on hand to sell their creative fish works.
Carthew told us where the idea came from.
The 4-day event includes A Go Fish tournament on Thursday Sept 7th, the signature Gala “Fete en Rose” on Friday and guided walking tours along the river on Saturday.
Sean told us the walking tours were a real eye opener for him last year.
The final day of Run Salmon Run is on Sunday and it will be a day full of fun including art, salmon cookies, games, education, live performances and more.
