This year’s Pride Week celebrations will take place from June 1 to the 11 in Trent Hills.
The festival kicks off on June 1 at 8:30 am with the raising of the inclusive flag, a symbol of LGBTQ2S+ pride and diversity. The event is a symbol of solidarity and support for the community.
Highlights include Opening Ceremonies on June 2nd hosted by Warkworth with a Market Party, Drag Storytime at all Trent Hills library branches on June 3rd, and there’ll be a Drag Takeover on June 9 at McGillicafey’s in Hastings and Dockside Bistro in Campbellford.
Trent Hills Pride Chair Emilio Ojeda told us more about an event at the Aron Theatre.
New this year is the Pet Pride Parade, which will be held on June 10 on Main Street, Warkworth.
Ojeda (O-HE-DA) told us about another event that’s sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.
Emilio told us The Pride Festival at the Old Mill Park on June 11 is a mix of everything.
The festival starts at 11:30 am and will feature a range of activities, including yoga, kids’ activities, live music, and a special appearance by the Queens Sahira Q and Betty Baker.
Drag Storytelling will take place at all Trent Hills Library branches on June 3, starting at 10:00 am in Hastings, 11:00 am in Campbellford, and 12:00 pm in Warkworth.
Emilio Ojeda says the events are designed to bring people together, provide opportunities for fun and socializing, and show support for the LGBTQ2S+ community.
Other exciting events include Drag n’ Shop and Wear Your Decade Fashion Bingo.
Trent Hills Pride is an essential part of the community, providing a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQ2S+ individuals and their allies. The Pride events are an opportunity for people to come together, celebrate diversity, and show their support.
