The federal government is investing $74 million in the Trent-Severn Waterway.
The waterway is Canada’s largest and one of the most visited national historic sites with over 1 million visitors every year.
Priority projects along the waterway will focus on repairs and upgrades to dams and locks over the next three years. Work will include projects at the Kirkfield Lift Lock, Little Chute Dam, Whites Portage Dam, Healey Falls and the creation of an access road between White’s Falls and the Pretty Channel Dam.
The work will enhance Parks Canada’s ability to mitigate flood risks, protect heritage in Canada and strengthen the appeal of this world-class waterway as a destination for visitors and tourists.
