OPP is warning owners of newer Pickups and SUVs to be aware of thefts
They say that groups of organized criminals are targeting these vehicles in ever more sophisticated thefts.
According to police they’ll scout the neighbourhood, record VIN numbers, check for alarm systems and then return in the early morning hours to commit the theft.
Police advise keeping your key fobs well away from doors or windows where their frequency can be copied by high-tech tools.
If you can, park in a garage, consider adding a “club” to your steering wheel, and install a security camera which can notify you immediately of suspicious activity.
