If you like standup comedy and want to help support international causes, there’s a perfect event for you.
Amnesty International Northumberland is hosting the very first Stand-up Comedy for Human Rights night
on December 9 at the Ganaraska Hotel.
Derek Blackadder, Secretary of Amnesty International Northumberland told us about the event.
He said that they had previously held fundraising events at the Woodlawn Inn in Cobourg, but since it closed, they decided to take it as an opportunity to change up their yearly event.
Blackadder said they’re hoping the event can spread awareness of some causes Amnesty International is involved in.
He said it will be good to get a laugh after the pandemic.
The comics performing that night include host Kenny Robinson, headliner Martha Chaves, Zabrina Douglas, and Cathy Boyd.
Tickets can be ordered either at standupforhumanrights.eventbrite.com or if you prefer using cash or a cheque by calling Derek at 905-376-3110.
