The Brighton Legion is a hosting a multitude of events leading up to and during the Applefest Weekend, starting on September 19th running until Saturday, September 24th
“Starting on September 19th the Legion is celebrating Legion week, this is an opportunity for local residents to come out and enjoy all the activities that take place weekly at the Legion and to learn more about membership and volunteer opportunities,” said Kathie Woodcox – Chair of the Ways and Means Committee of the Legion. “It leads quite nicely into Applefest weekend, from Monday to Thursday, folks can come out to play euchre, snooker, darts and new this year cornhole too.”
It’s also going to be a busy weekend at Legion, they are also organizing 3 different special events, with events on Friday, September 23rd and Saturday, September 24th during Applefest weekend.
They have a pub night, dinner and dance event on Friday, September 23rd. For $25.00 they are offering a roast pork dinner with sides and of course the famous Ladies Auxiliary’s famous Apple Crisp for dessert. You can then dance the night away with music performed by the Bay City Trio.
Woodcox said the apple crisp is highly sought after.
On Saturday, September 24th, starting at 8:00 am, the Legion is also selling peameal bacon on a bun with coffee or tea for $5.00. This would be a great way to fuel up for a busy Saturday in the downtown core.
Throughout Saturday, members and volunteers will be available to answer any questions about membership or volunteering with the Legion as they also have a parking lot sale going on too.
“If you want more of, our missed the Pub night, you can also buy some of our famous Apple Crisp directly from the Ladies Auxillary too,” added Woodcox. “If it’s raining on Saturday, activities will move inside, both our sale and breakfast will continue.”
The Legion is located at 25 Park Street in Brighton, one block south of the main street. Be sure to stop by during Legion week starting September 19th and of course during Applefest Weekend for their Pub Night, Peameal bun and sale.
Woodcox said she’s looking forward to being able to host events like this once again following the pandemic.
All Applefest activities are fundraisers for the Legion, they directly support the organization.
