Trent Hills council needs to make sure they’re doing everything they can to make the area appealing to doctors.
That’s according to Doctor Paul WIlliams, a physician with the Trent Hill Family Health team.
He spoke to council about the lack of primary care physicians in the area and the obstacles the municipality faces to attract doctors to the community.
He said that overhead costs associated with running a family clinic have increased, which has lead to less doctors across the country choosing to enter the field.
Williams said things such as covering these costs will make the community more appealing to potential doctors compared to others across the province.
Williams said he estimates there are 5100 people in Trent Hills looking for a family doctor.
