Anyone who attended Brighton’s Canada Day celebrations got to experience some poetry to mark our nation’s birthday.
Brighton’s Poet laureate, Richard M. Grove, also known as “Tai” to his friends, recited a special Canada Day poem at Brighton’s recent Canada Day celebrations.
Grove made a point to emphasize equality in his poem.
He also gave a shout out to the town holding the festivities.
Richard Grove was born in Hamilton and is an active photographer, writer, editor and publisher with over 14 book titles to his name and photographs that have been used as cover art for 75 books. He has also written over 100 poems and essays published in periodicals and in anthologies, he has also been highly involved with many artistic organizations.
“I believe that poetry is a social link with the public, it should be accessible,” said Grove. “My Canada Day poem is not political, instead it is my experience and interaction with Canada.”
