There is an Outbreak within the Central East Correctional Centre (CECC) in Lindsay, that has caused an increase in local COVID-19 Case Numbers.
The HKPR District Health Unit declared an outbreak at the CECC on May 17th after six inmates in various areas of the facility were confirmed positive. The outbreak was then declared facility-wide as additional inmates and staff were confirmed positive.
Over the weekend, the Health Unit was notified of 88 confirmed cases within the City of Kawartha Lakes – 67 of which are related to the CECC outbreak.
As of yesterday (May 25), there are 122 inmates and nine staff who have tested positive related to the outbreak.
There is also an outbreak in Northumberland at Campbellford Farm Supply LTD.
As of yesterday in Northumberland, 11 new cases of the virus were reported by the HKPR.
There is also an additional death in Northumberland, bringing the death toll to 17.
The province is reporting 1,039 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday and as of Monday at 8 p.m., more than 8.2 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered.
