
A Cobourg driver is facing numerous charges after fleeing police in Peterborough.
Members of the Peterborough OPP were advised of a dangerous driving incident involving the Peterborough Police Service which occurred on January 1, close to noon.
The suspect vehicle was involved in a brief pursuit with Peterborough Police but the pursuit was terminated due to public safety concerns.
Around 12:50 pm Wednesday, the suspect vehicle was located by OPP officers in the town of Bailieboro.
The driver – 27-year-old Mitchell Hart of Cobourg – was arrested and found to be under the influence of drugs.
He is charged with Flight from peace officer, Operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, Dangerous operation, Driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available and Operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
The accused is also facing charges from the Peterborough Police Service incident.
The accused was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing today (Jan 2) in Peterborough.
