Ground was broken at Lakeridge Chrysler Dodge Jeep LTD. last spring, to start construction on the expansion of the Port Hope dealership.
Yesterday (Aug 27), the official ribbon cutting took place at 152 Peter Street.
For many years, the small area that the dealership sits on has been used to its maximum capacity with its large inventory.
General manager, Ian Parker, says this expansion is key to the continued success of the dealership.
Lakeridge made the decision that they would make a large expansion, doubling the size of the dealership and services provided by Lakeridge.
Deputy mayor for Port Hope, Les Andrews, says there was a need for this expansion, even more so in the next few years.
Port Hope Chamber board member and deputy chief for Port Hope Police, Darren Strongman, says the police cars for Port Hope have been coming from and serviced by Lakeridge since the 90s.
This expansion of Lakeridge is good news for the area, as it brings with it jobs from more licensed mechanics and technicians to apprentices and more.
