Work for the best boss ever: you!
That’s the idea behind Summer Company, which is offered by the Business & Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland.
Each year, students between the ages of 15 and 29 submit a detailed business plan and if selected, they can receive up to $3,000 in grants.
Seven student entrepreneurs were on hand yesterday (July 10) to showcase their products and services at Staples in Cobourg.
Kailyn Coupland, the youth programs co-ordinator for Northumberland County, tells us more.
Products and services offered by this year’s selected businesses included car detailing, farming, tools, tarot and astrology readings, photography and web design.
29-year-old Shanakay Hall of S-Kay Creative, says her creative studio is based in Cobourg and offers brand and product photography, graphic design and web design.
She says it’s important for a company to have a great online presence that speaks to its customers.
16-year-old Ella Scozzari of Campbellford High owns a company called Neptune2Earth.
She offers tarot and astrology readings and reports to clients by providing online and video services.
Scozzari says she can offer a spirtual method to gain insight to topics of the past, present, future and one’s inner self.
She says she took a big interest in after seeing her mom do it and thought this could be a great way to make money while doing something she loves.
